Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, community health care provider, governed by a community-based board of trustees. Since its founding in 1973, the original 59-bed, short-stay hospital has grown into a comprehensive acute care medical center with 226 licensed beds. The Registered Nurse - Forensic Nurse Examiner (RN-FNE) participates as a member of the Sexual Assault Forensic Nurse Examiner (SAFE) program, providing victims of sexual assault and intimate partner violence with sensitive, coordinated, and patient-centered care. The RN-FNE provides the forensic medical exam in all cases of sexual assault and intimate partner violence as requested by victim or law enforcement, and provides emergency and prophylactic care and information regarding proper medical follow-up for reported and non-reported cases of sexual assault and intimate partner violence that present Howard County Medical Center.
