ABOUT THE JANE BANCROFT ROBINSON FOUNDATION (JBRF ): JBRF was created in 2010 to honor the legacy of Jane Bancroft Robinson. Jane Bancroft Robinson helped found the Lucy Webb Hayes National Training School, which was later renamed Sibley Memorial Hospital. Operated by the Women’s Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the school trained deaconesses and missionaries to care for the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the underserved and was responsible for starting and maintaining Sibley Memorial Hospital in its early years. Today, JBRF is committed to continuing the work that Jane Bancroft Robinson began, with the goal of championing change and advancing the health and overall livelihood of Black women living East of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. JBRF centers community members' voices and shifts power and resources to them so they can design solutions that improve racial equity, health, and employment outcomes for Black women living East of the River. We aim to be a true partner with the community by engaging in an inclusive approach to philanthropy. JBRF strongly believes that the spirit in which we do our work is as important as the work itself. We pride ourselves on excellence, innovation, humility, productive disruption in the field of philanthropy and fostering collaboration between groups that might not otherwise interact. We also prioritize a willingness to have fun with our work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Director of Strategic Partnerships, you will have an unparalleled opportunity to contribute.

Team player: You are eager to use your role to advance JBRF’s mission, and look for ways to help beyond your own core responsibilities. You are ready and willing to participate in all-hands-on-deck projects, which frequently come up. No job is too small for anyone on our team and your attitude reflects that.
Critical thinking skills: You know how to quickly process information and draw out the key points of various publications/documents to summarize and share with the leadership team on a host of issues.
Relationship management: You have a good sense of how to manage internal relationships (i.e. with senior leadership) and grow external ones. You know how to handle confidential information, use discretion around what information you share both internally and externally, and routinely apply good judgment as to when to involve senior leadership and others in decision-making.
Attention to detail: You consistently ensure materials and communications are accurate (both content and grammar), precise, and completed on time.
Passion: You have a strong commitment to racial equity, health equity and shifting power for better outcomes.
Experience: You have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, age, lived experiences and gender identity. You support JBRF’s work in understanding and addressing institutional and structural racism and bias and a genuine commitment to equity and inclusion.
Vision: You can implement the day to day requirements while seeing the strategic vision, outcomes and success for JBRF’s approach.
