JOB TITLE : Program Officer - Full-Time - Remote/Hybrid or In-Person options

GENERAL SUMMARY : Reporting to the Director of Programs or Director of Strategic Partnerships, you will have an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to a fast paced, big-thinking, mission-driven organization. You will have the opportunity to lead or co-lead projects, manage key Foundation initiatives, and facilitate the completion of projects with high importance and visibility. Your responsibilities will vary and require you to prioritize effectively, act quickly, maintain confidentiality, and bring others along. This position will have a significant influence on the Foundation’s impact by ensuring maximum execution and value from all Foundation activities.

ABOUT THE JANE BANCROFT ROBINSON FOUNDATION (JBRF ): JBRF was created in 2010 to honor the legacy of Jane Bancroft Robinson. Jane Bancroft Robinson helped found the Lucy Webb Hayes National Training School, which was later renamed Sibley Memorial Hospital. Operated by the Women’s Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the school trained deaconesses and missionaries to care for the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the underserved and was responsible for starting and maintaining Sibley Memorial Hospital in its early years. Today, JBRF is committed to continuing the work that Jane Bancroft Robinson began, with the goal of championing change and advancing the health and overall livelihood of Black women living East of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. JBRF centers community members' voices and shifts power and resources to them so they can design solutions that improve racial equity, health, and employment outcomes for Black women living East of the River. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Reporting to the Director of Programs and Director of Strategic Partnerships, you will have an unparalleled opportunity to contribute.

• Manage multiple, simultaneous high priority Foundation projects

• Contribute to decision-making and problem-solving by providing timely and relevant information, input, and recommendations

• Maintain an understanding of projects, timelines, deliverables, and due dates and ensure timely completion of all tasks

• Conceive and plan Foundation special meetings and events

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team providing candid opinions and constructive feedback on all Foundation matters

• Prepare for, and follow up on, internal and external meetings. When needed, participate directly in meetings and follow up with the relevant parties

• Conduct research, create PowerPoint Presentations, and draft speeches and talking points for external and internal presentations and speaking engagements

• Develop in-depth knowledge of our program areas, including current issues and trends and key resource people and organizations.

• Develop in-depth knowledge of organizations, community, assets East of the River

• Review and assess grant proposals through a community participatory and/or peer review process to reflect the Foundation’s values.

• Manage and monitor grantee outcomes – written reports semi-annually

• Serve as a key contact and resource for foundation consultants

• Conduct community site visits to grantees and potential grantees to assess program relevance, organizational integrity, and stability.

• Formulate written recommendations for funding for Board consideration.

• Attend Board meetings to support recommendations and provide information.

• Review and approve funded grantees’ evaluation reports and monitor grantees’ progress in achieving key objectives.

• Serve as primary contact for grantees.

• Provide technical assistance to, and manage ongoing relationships with grantees.

• Initiate meetings or reports to respond to current and emerging needs in cooperation with nonprofit organizations, foundation collaborative groups, government agencies and others that foster shared problem solving and accomplish special projects.

• Participate in joint efforts and affinity groups of foundations and represent the Foundation on funding collaboratives, working groups, at meetings and conferences.

• Stay abreast of relevant community issues and local trends.

• Develop position papers and perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficient use of web-based management system to manage all foundation and grant compliance and record keeping

Experience: You have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, age, lived experiences and gender identity. You support JBRF’s work in understanding and addressing institutional and structural racism and bias and a genuine commitment to equity and inclusion.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Qualifications:

• Some college, an AA and/or BA degree.
• Seven years of relevant work experience in the nonprofit or grantmaking fields.
• As stated above, must possess excellent interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills, as well as a sense of humor, humility, diplomacy and discretion, critical thinking and judgment. Must be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks and work within deadlines. Knowledge of our local program areas, including current issues and trends and key resource people and organizations is preferred.
• Knowledge of the DC metropolitan region is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and database software is required.

Salary Range: Minimum 48.21/hour - Maximum 77.14/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
